Theatre (AM and PM)

Students study acting technique, voice, movement, theatre history, and performance. Technical theatre is offered periodically throughout the year with opportunities to learn at Open Stage of Harrisburg and the Sunoco Performance Theatre at Whitaker Center. AM students concentrate on the study of basic acting technique for the stage and camera. In the PM class there is a strong collaborative emphasis in the curriculum, along with the acting technique.  Both classes have two curriculum based performances a year. Special master classes taught by performing arts professionals are also held throughout the year in such areas as stage combat, costume design, auditioning, theatre as a career, and other specialized topics. Students also collaborate with their peers in multi-disciplinary projects.

Audition Requirements in Theatre:

• Performance of a one to two-minute monologue from a published play, performed from memory.
• Portfolio of materials (i.e., sketches, photographs, stage manager’s book) for technical students
• Brief interview
• A copy of the student’s most recent report card attached to the completed application form
• Recent photo of any size
