-
Under federal law, virtually all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. However, the Selective Service now accepts early submission of registration information by 17-year-old men. Selective Service holds their registration information and automatically enters their data into the system when they turn 18.
The fastest way to register is online at www.sss.gov. You can also get a Selective Service registration card at your local post office.
Registration at 18 provides young men with access to college student loans and grants; job training programs; all Federal, U.S. Postal, many State government and contractor positions; and access to citizenship. Registering with the Selective Service does NOT mean joining the military.
