What brought you to CASA?

I came to CASA to work with individuals who are passionate about the arts and committed to creating a rigorous studio-based approach to education centered around collaboration, community, and interdisciplinary learning. 

 

Where did you work and what was your role prior to coming to CASA?

I worked at Manheim Central High School teaching a variety of introductory and advanced level studio art classes to students in grades 9-12. I was primarily responsible for the Drawing and Painting, Computer Art, Graphic Design, Digital Illustration, Animation, and Advanced Art Portfolio courses.

What is your favorite part of working at CASA?

I love guiding and supporting students daily as they discover their authentic selves and use their artistic voice with confidence and power.

What is your connection to the arts? Or, how are you an artist?

My current practice as an artist embraces an interdisciplinary approach towards art-making, creativity, and self expression.  I love drawing, painting, character design, illustration, puppetry, computer art, graphic design, and playing music.

What do you hope will be your impact on our school community, students, and culture?

My goal is to create a welcoming and caring environment where students feel supported. I hope that through my years of experience as an artist I can help students explore new ideas, take risks, challenge themselves artistically, and have a healthy perspective while navigating the ups and downs of the creative process.

What advice do you have for our students?

Be kind to yourself. As artists, we tend to be hyper-critical. You are more important than the art that you create. .

Who is in your immediate family?

What are your favorite hobbies/activities? 
In his free time, Mr. Cook enjoys making things, playing music, kayaking, fishing, and watching movies/tv with his family,

Fun facts about Mr. Cook:

I used to be really into ping pong. I practiced and entered a local table tennis club’s tournament and received a national ranking. Not because I was any good. It was included in the price of entering the tournament, which wasn’t much, just like my ranking. 

​

I also used to play in a folk-rock indie bluegrass band with friends from college. We played gigs for tens of adoring fans at various venues, which have now since closed. There’s been no proven correlation.
