The 9th grade class traveled to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., following the conclusion of their novels Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and Night by Elie Wiesel. On this trip they were able to tour the museum's permanent collection with artifacts and history of the Holocaust, as well as attend a "First Person" presentation where a Holocaust survivor--Marcel Drimer--shared his firsthand experience. This sobering trip opens the students' eyes to the difference between fiction and nonfiction; it helps them to truly appreciate the sanctity of human life.
