Ms. Sarver joined CASA in 2025. She is originally from Perry County and spent a decade of her life in Philadelphia. In her free time, Ms. Sarver enjoys making art, gardening, and seeing live music. She is a proud CASA alum.
What brought you to CASA?
I was a student at CASA from 2003-2006, back when it was a magnet school. The support, passion, and talent of the CASA community left a huge impact on me–especially my teachers, who were incredible mentors. I wanted to return as an educator to honor and continue their legacy, offering nurturing and innovative arts education to the next generation.
Where did you work and what was your role prior to coming to CASA?
Most recently, I worked for the City of Harrisburg as the Marketing and Special Events Assistant Manager. Prior to that, I ran my own small business, focused on natural dye, textiles, and eco-literacy. I wore many hats– creating art, teaching workshops, and consulting fashion businesses.
What is your favorite part of working at CASA?
The students! They’re so brilliant, talented, and make me laugh.
What is your connection to the arts? Or, how are you an artist?
I’ve been a Visual Artist for most of my life. My primary mediums are textiles, painting, and mixed media. I also love experimenting with film and photography. Along with being a practicing artist, I have organized several events for artists, including Harrisburg Artsfest.
What do you feel is your impact on our school community, students, and culture?
I hope to inspire joy, curiosity, and perseverance through art-making, while creating an inclusive art room where all students feel safe, seen, and supported. Teaching beyond the traditional canon, I aim to expand students’ perception of Visual Art, empowering them to view art as a tool for liberation.
What advice do you have for our students?
I’m going to borrow from Sister Corita Kent’s famous 10 Rules for Artists: “Consider everything an experiment. There is no win and no fail– there is only make. The only rule is work. Be happy when you can manage it. Enjoy yourself. It’s lighter than you think.”
